There are primarily two different types of dentures: full and partial. Full dentures are used to replace all the teeth in a mouth while partial dentures are only used to replace some of the teeth. When most people think “dentures,” they tend to think about full dentures. If a dentist sees that a patient only has a few teeth remaining in the mouth, it may be suggested that those teeth be extracted so that full dentures can be applied.
Partial dentures are similar to full dentures except they are only used to replace some of the teeth. Partial dentures can be held into place using clasps and frames so that they do not move around. You can also have dentures held into place using dental implants so that they will not fall out.
