A dental veneer is a thin layer of porcelain that is bonded to the front surface of a tooth. Porcelain veneers are used to correct a variety of issues with teeth including staining or discoloration, and minor chips, cracks, and gaps. And they do this by maintaining a perfectly natural appearance. Once a porcelain veneer is placed, it is virtually indistinguishable from the natural teeth.
Braces have historically been the treatment of choice to straighten teeth, eliminate gaps and correct bites, and they are extremely effective for this purpose. The downside to braces is that their effects are not immediate; it normally takes at least a year, and often several years, for braces to take effect.
Porcelain veneers can accomplish the same appearance in as little as two dental visits. For this reason, many patients have opted for porcelain veneers to transform their pearly whites into the smile of their dreams.
Veneers cannot correct all orthodontic problems, however. Contact our office to find out whether you are a candidate for veneer placement.
