• The product was clear and practically invisible, eliminating the metal mouth associated with braces.
• The Invisalign alignment trays had to be removed before eating, allowing patients to enjoy their favorite foods that would typically be off-limits for those wearing braces.
• Patients using Invisalign had to brush their teeth after eating and before reinserting the aligner trays. This made oral hygiene easier because there were no brackets or rubber bands to work around.
Since that time, Invisalign continues to improve and evolve. Align Technology consistently finds new ways to assist orthodontic patients. One of the more recent advancements is a system called Invisalign Express.
Invisalign Express works like traditional Invisalign. The patient wears the clear plastic aligner trays for between 20-22 hours a day. The trays must be out before eating or drinking, and the Invisalign Express patient must practice excellent oral hygiene. Invisalign Express patients need to see our dentist regularly to get new alignment trays. This is usually about every two weeks as each alignment tray plays a part in moving teeth into their best position.
Invisalign Express is often the best treatment for patients who experience minor misalignments. Typically, patients who have less than 2 millimeters of tooth crowding or spacing are good candidates for Invisalign Express. Additionally, patients who have minimal tooth rotation can expect good results with Invisalign Express.
While the full Invisalign treatment normally consists of between 20 and 30 alignment trays, patients using the Invisalign Express system will use between 10 and 15 alignment trays. The Invisalign Express system typically will bring the desired changes between three and six months.
