If you have lost a tooth later in life, have no fear! There is no maximum age to receive a dental implant; however, there is a minimum age. Dental implants are typically not recommended for patients younger than 16 since they require a fully developed jaw bone in order to properly work.
There are a few other factors that could disqualify you from receiving an implant. You should be relatively healthy and free from any systemic health conditions such as diabetes or periodontal disease. And if you smoke, our dentist will suggest that you quit so that the restoration has a better chance of lasting for many years.
