Lingual braces work just like traditional ones, but are placed on the back surfaces, or lingual sides, of the teeth. This change offers several benefits, the first of which is, of course, the lack of visibility to others. Patients often report to our orthodontist in LA that their appliance is rarely noticed, with the lower ones only sometimes seen by others. Another benefit of this placement is that the brackets can no longer irritate the soft tissues of the mouth, another common complaint of patients with braces. Our orthodontist might even be able to flatten the brackets, making them even less visible and obstructive in the mouth.
While treatment may take a bit longer with lingual braces than with regular ones, patients can enjoy a more discrete experience during this time. They are able to address many different type of orthodontic needs, such as crooked teeth and spacing issues.
