Same day inlays and onlays are considerably convenient for our patients, who no longer have to schedule and return for another appointment while missing work or school. Inlays are created for cavities that reach the inside of a tooth, while onlays are for placement on the cusp, or biting surface. They are called indirect filling because, unlike direct fillings, they are created outside of the tooth. Our dentist will take pictures in order to create a 3D image of the affected tooth, which will be sent to our in-office CAD/CAM milling machine.
This machine will use the material or materials you have decided on to make the perfect filling. After removing the decay from the area, our dentist will place the restoration and seal it to the tooth. You will then be able to enjoy your newly fortified tooth that day.
